Tony Eugene Meador of Lakeland, Florida (formerly of Martinez, Georgia) passed away on Thursday, May 20th, 2021.
Tony was born in Mississippi on December 1st, 1947 – he was 73 years old. Tony retired from Publix Supermarkets in Georgia. During his time in Florida, Tony worked in the Tropical Fish Farm industry, even owning his own farm for a time. During his time in Sarasota, Florida, Tony was a Captain on the Flying Fish Fleet owned by his wife, Martha. Tony was a proud member of the Masonic Fraternity. He graduated from Kathleen High School in 1965. He was avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and had a great love of the outdoors.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife Martha Meador, his parents Virginia Smith (Fred) and J.D. Updyke, his brothers Jerry Meador, Dickey Meador and his sister Polly Bowlus.
Tony is survived by his son, Trent Meador and his wife Dee, his daughter Tracy Moore, 6 grandchildren McLain Moore, McCoy Moore, Hagen Meador, Kent Anderson, Cheyenne Mele, Ashton Anderson, and their families including 3 great grandsons Axel, Collin and Conner. Tony is also survived by Martha’s children Bill and Cindy Davidson and Benjie and Mary Jo Scott, granddaughter Marty Hall (Mike), great grandson Michael.
At Tony’s request, the family will be having a private committal service on Friday, June 4th at Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
