Mrs. Shirley Jackson was lovingly welcomed into her heavenly home on Friday, January 8, 2021. She passed peacefully with her dedicated and loving husband at her side at her home in Lakeland, Florida after valiantly battling cancer for a number of years.

Shirley was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on September 19, 1942 to the late Herman Smith Landreth and Margert Inez (Wall) Landreth. She attended school in Forsythe County North Carolina. Shirley’s daughter, Jamie was born in 1968. She and Jamie had a cherished bond. They relied on each other for both their physical and emotional well-being and Jamie recalls this time in their lives with great affection. Shirley met Otis “Lester” Jackson in North Carolina and they married in 1984. They relocated to Lakeland, Florida. Shirley was faithfully employed by Kelly Buick and GMC for many years. Shirley was a devoted Baptist.

She was a beautiful woman, wife, mother, and “mama Shirly.” To those who knew her, she always had a sweet smile and kind disposition. She genuinely and enthusiastically shared her love and faith for Christ, enriching the lived of those she encountered. Her devotion to her daughter was a demonstration of her giving and loving nature.

Shirley is survived by her adoring husband, Les; only daughter, Jamie Mitchell and son-in-law, Joseph Mitchell (Lakeland, FL); stepson, Scott Jackson (Knoxville, TN); stepson, Peter Jackson (Atlanta, GA); stepson, Jeffery Jackson, (Bakersfield, CA); and brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Landreth (King, NC).

Her family is deeply appreciative of Good Shepherd palliative and hospice care. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 3 Oak Hill Burial Park, 4620 US Highway 98 South, Lakeland, FL 33812.

Condolences may be sent to the family at Heath Funeral Chapel.
