Robert Wilson of Murfreesboro, TN and Lakeland, FL; dearly beloved husband of 61 years to Frances Wilson, father of Tammy Corn, Mark Wilson, and Todd Wilson and brother of five siblings, went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2021 after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Robert will be remembered for the joy he spread through his kind nature, endless generosity and love for his family.
He was the son of a sharecropper in Tennessee and moved to Florida with his family when he was eight years old. He and his partners started Alpha Engineering in 1970 and many years later he started Wilson Engineering and later retired from Kimley-Horn in 2011.
Unconditional love was something that came so naturally to Robert, he was able to demonstrate the love of Christ in everything he did. As a youth baseball and football coach the lessons that he taught so many are invaluable. He was the most compassionate man; and if there is one message that he would have wanted to leave us with, it is to make family your priority and keep God at the center of your life.
He was preceded in death by his father (Fred), mother (Zery Ozell) and his brothers (Bill, Dean, and Homer). He is survived by his sisters (Effie and Joyce), loving wife of 61 years (Frances), daughter, Tammy (her husband Terry and their children Terry Jr., Adam, Matthew, and Ashley) son Mark (his wife Lori and children J.P. and Reagan) and son Todd (his wife Amy and daughter Dakotah), as well as 6 great-grandchildren.
There will be a funeral service held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18th at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes – Southside Chapel 1727 Bartow Road Lakeland, FL 33801. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
