Robert Acevedo, 54, of Lakeland, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Robert was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Telesforo and Abigail Acevedo. He was raised in Paterson, New Jersey and attended Eastside High School. He was a member of La Gran Commission and was part of the “Orquesta Vision” and “Los Conquistadores” where he sang and played percussion. Robert loved to worship the Lord in song and music.

He was a gentle man, with a pure heart who loved and trusted God throughout his life. He was a volunteer firefighter in Butler, New Jersey and became a chaplain once he moved to Florida so he could minister to those in the community who were in need. He spent his time visiting hospice patients, was part of the jail ministry, and fed the homeless. While he never preached to the masses, he lived his life to minister to others.

He was preceded in death by his mother Abigail Acevedo. He is survived by his wife Carmen Acevedo, his children Robert, Christopher, Jonathan and Nathaniel, 4 grandchildren; Isabella, Abigail, Penelope and RJ, his father Telesforo Acevedo, Jr., and 2 sisters Loida Mickens and Judith Acevedo.

There will be a viewing/visitation Tuesday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Victory Church (1401 Griffin Rd., Lakeland FL). Service will start at 11 a.m. followed immediately after by interment at Serenity Gardens at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home (3350 Mall Hill Dr., Lakeland, FL). Flowers can be sent to Victory Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
