DETECTIVE: Lakeland Police Lt. Brent Addison was placed on paid administrative leave today after Polk Sheriff’s investigators submitted an affidavit about its investigation into a domestic incident involving the detective. State Attorney Brian Haas declined to provide details about the affidavit filed with his office, but said a decision about how to proceed with the case will be made within two weeks.

FIRST FRIDAY: The organizers of the monthly downtown event are trying to get visitors to go farther north on Kentucky Avenue while also giving free exposure to local artisans.

DOG PARK: Lakeland’s second dog park opens March 10 in a shady corner off the golf course along Cleveland Heights Boulevard.
