RED LIGHT CAMERAS: Crashes went up statewide at intersections where cameras were installed, according to a new study from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. In Lakeland, crashes were up 47 percent, Lloyd Dunkelberger reported for the News Service of Florida, but an LPD spokesman said the statistics are misleading.

COUNTRY SALOON RELOCATING: Boots N Buckles has closed its location in a strip mall on U.S. 98 north, citing a lease issue. The bar-and-music venue said on Facebook (link) it plans to reopen elsewhere in Lakeland but hasn’t said when or where.

FATALITY: Ruth Windham, 77, died Wednesday after being hospitalized when her car plunged from the Polk Parkway onto Cleveland Heights Boulevard Dec. 20, the Florida Highway Patrol announced.
