RADIATION: In the face of a lawsuit that alleges high radiation levels in Oakbridge and Grasslands neighborhoods, a scientist with the Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute (link) told nearly 400 residents Tuesday night that “the average radiation dose attributable to mining practices … is zero.”

MALLESS: An urban planner by training, City Commissioner Jim Malless is taking on city planners in his re-election bid, saying they have been too restrictive in dealing with creative development ideas.

PENSIONS: City commissioners are moving toward a one-time $750 payment to city retirees with pensions of less than $40k per year to help keep up with inflation.
