• I-4 AND SR 33: Improvements are coming to the obsolete interchange of I-4 and SR 33 near Bridgewater, but construction could be several years away. A congressional infrastructure deal set aside $20 million to rebuild the interchange; it won’t cover the estimated $70-80 million price tag, but local officials hope it will incentive state transportation planners to advance the project from 2028 to 2014.   • SCHOOL NURSE Cynthia “ Cindee” Kasey of Lakeland’s REAL Academy has died at age 58 of COVID-19; she’s the seventh Polk public schools employee known to have succumbed to an infection since classes started in August.  A friend and colleague said Kasey contracted the virus at work.
  • DIXIELAND FIRE: The owners of a 96-year-old house at 912 S. Missouri Ave. worry they may have to demolish it after fire struck recently; they fear the same fate may befall another structure on the property that once housed Child’s Garden of Learning, a private elementary school that closed in 1974.
