LOW-INCOME HOUSING: Following a successful and ongoing fund-raising campaign, Talbot House Ministries has closed on 16 formerly city-owned studio apartments on Vermont Avenue just south of Massachusetts Boulevard that it will rehab for inexpensive housing for low-income people, including the disabled and veterans.

DOMESTIC FATALITY: In a story scant on details with the Sheriff’s Office invoking victim-protecting Marsy’s Law, a man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon while attempting to pick up his son, nearly 2, from the home of his ex-wife in the area of Lunn Road and Ewell Road. The alleged shooter was the ex-wife’s boyfriend and the victim’s mother witnessed the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.
