BALL HOCKEY?: Members of the Barnett family have purchased the closed Interstate Lanes bowling alley on West Memorial Boulevard and Paul Granville has leased it to turn the building into a year-round ice rink and “ball hockey” facility. Granville hopes to open the ice rink in summer 2019. It would be Polk County’s first all-year ice rink.

CHARGES DROPPED: Prosecutors have dropped murder charges against Tavaris Mack after concluding evidence indicates he was in Miami during a 2016 Lakeland home invasion which left three people dead. The surviving witness also indicated he no longer thought Mack was one of the three men involved in the murders. Mack had been in the Polk County Jail for 33 months while awaiting trial.
