DUNN’S CALL: Less than an hour after fatally shooting a man at his surplus store, former City Commissioner Michael Dunn called City Manager Tony Delgado, presumably to keep him informed, investigative records reveal. Delgado told him it would be unwise to discuss the shooting, and Dunn agreed.

RUNNING FOR OFFICE: Dunn’s resignation opened a seat on the City Commission. So far, three candidates have prequalified to run: Jorge Fonseca, Patrick Jones and Sara Roberts McCarley. The deadline to file with the city clerk is Friday. (Update: An earlier version of this summary erroneously indicated that the three had qualified to run.)

LKLD LEGISLATORS: Sen. Kelli Stargel will chair the Florida Senate’s important education appropriations subcommittee, the Tampa Bay Times reports | Rep. Colleen Burton has already filed to run for her fourth term in the state House in 2020, according to Florida Politics.
