KATHLEEN DEVELOPMENT: A plan to build up to 130 homes on small lots in a rural area was shot down 4-1 by the Polk County Commission as 120 red-shirted residents protested the plan. Only Commissioner George Lindsey supported it.

COMBEE NAME: This time there was a vote. County commissioners voted 3-2 to remove Neil Combee’s name from the sign in front of the county’s administrative building. Voting for: Dantzler, Hall, Lindsey. Against: Braswell, Wilson.

LAKE MORTON PLAZA: The last of the residents displaced after a fire in June are moving back into the 10-story seniors tower at Florida and Lime.
