LPD HQ: City commissioners are being asked to award Miller Construction a $930k contract to renovate the interior of the Lakeland Police Department’s headquarters on Massachusetts Avenue. The space is being reconfigured to accommodate a workforce that has grown from 287 to 356 since the building opened in 1993. The project also calls for $530k in new equipment.

JUDD THREATENED?: Deputies say the president of Fleetwing Corp. threatened to shoot Sheriff Grady Judd as he was being taken into custody in connection with a domestic incident. The executive later told a deputy that he didn’t remember what he said because alcohol was involved but that he wouldn’t have said something like that even when drunk. His attorney said it’s all a misunderstanding.
