GUNS/SCHOOLS: Both Lakeland-based state legislators voted for the gun/school safety bill that was sent to Gov. Scott this week, but expressed different levels of support. Sen. Kelli Stargel said she’s no fan of raising the age for buying guns from 18 to 21 or the three-day waiting period but also didn’t want to return home with no action taken. Fellow Republican Rep. Colleen Burton told reporters she had no reservations about supporting the bill.

CANADY: Lakeland native Charles Canady was selected by his peers to a two-year term as chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court.

AIRPORT: Kimberly C. Moore, the Morning Paper’s new City Hall reporter, gives an update on several improvements planned for Lakeland Linder Regional Airport and a renewed lease for Hallback’s Bar & Grill.
