Qgiv, a local tech company founded by 31-year-old Lakeland entrepreneur Todd Baylis, was honored as innovator of the year by Brighthouse Networks.

Qgiv was one of 33 companies from a five-county area competing for awards. Roughly 700 people attended the ceremony last week at the Tampa Convention Center.

Baylis said it’s a good thing his team stayed until the end because the innovator prize was the last of 11 awards given.

Qgiv, formed in 2008, provides software used by non-profit, faith-based and political organizations to collect donations online.
