Phyllis M. Colvin, 66, passed away at Lakeland Regional Hospital August 17, 2022 at 8:04 p.m.

She was born September 26, 1955, in Opa Locka, FL. She was the daughter of Leonard Smith and Norma (Lockwood) Dunn. Phyllis lived in Hollywood, Florida and having 2 girls Sabrina and Serina before moving to Lakeland Florida in 1980. She met and married Thomas A. Colvin (Tom) on October 24th 1981. They went on to have a son Thomas A. Colvin II (Tommy). Phyllis worked in the insurance field and continuing on to own 2 insurance agencies. She was proud to be an insurance agent and took her field of work very serious. Phyllis also surrounded herself with friends and family. No one was a stranger to her. Phyllis and Thomas Colvin would have celebrated their 41 years of marriage in October.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Norma (Lockwood) Dunn and Paul Dunn. Her father Leonard Smith, her bother Peanut (Douglas) Smith, Gene Smith. Her brother in law Robert Anderson and her granddaughter Becca Lynn Sutton.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Thomas A. Colvin, Her children Sabrina (Andy) Byers, Serina (Bobby) Sutton, Tommy Colvin, Ruby (Tony) Berger, Anthony Cumberbatch. Her grandchildren Tyler, Haley (Dustin) Zachary, Saphire (Michael), Destiny, Patience, Alan, Shae, Jennifer, Nick (Alyssa) and Emma Berger. She also had 8 great grandchildren Kylie, Luke, Aaliyah, Arial, Jada, Lorrayna, Addalynne, and Vivianna. She also was survived by her brother Denzil (Brenda) Smith, and Ann (Robert) Anderson. She had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She had many more bonus children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to many to name.

She had a heart of gold and many through her years would take many in her home and treat them as her own. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
