It would cost $8.9 million to pay for improvements recommended by consultants who analyzed Polk Fire Rescue’s response to a house fire that took the life of a 76-year-old woman on Rockridge Road, the agency’s new chief told county commissioners Tuesday. County Commission Chairman George Lindsey said the county can probably afford $3.5 million in improvements this year, with other changes having to wait.
