A 33-year-old Lakeland man was arrested late Friday in a hit-and-run earlier in the day that sent 11-year-old Trinity Hamilton to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa with a fractured jaw and a dislocated pelvis.

William Ray Hull, whose address is listed by the Sheriff’s Office as Lake Parker Drive, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence. Deputies approached him after a tipster identified his pickup truck from photos shared by the Polk Sheriff’s Office on social media.

The accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. near the intersection of Idlewild Street and Leslie Drive on the east side of Lake Parker as Trinity was walking home from her school bus stop, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

She was hit from behind while walking westbound on the shoulder of the road and knocked into a drainage ditch. Witnesses said the white pickup sped away from the scene.

Deputies said Hull told them he hit something on Idlewild Street but didn’t know what it was. He has been booked into the Polk County Jail.
