UPDATE: Four people died around 11:30 a.m. today when the silver Chevrolet sedan they were in crossed a median on East Memorial Drive and crashed into a westbound Chevy truck towing an unoccupied horse trailer, the Lakeland Police Department said.

Three died at the scene near Holly Road by Lake Parker, and the fourth died at the hospital, LPD said; the truck’s driver and his passenger taken to Lakeland Regional Health as a precaution.

The deceased were identified as:

  • William McClelland, 50, of 1022 Spirit Lake Road, Winter Haven. He drove the sedan.
  • Ernest Manley, 88, of 1022 Spirit Lake Road, Winter Haven.
  • Lisa Vorholzer, 54, of 1022 Spirit Lake Road, Winter Haven.
  • Linda Henson, 68, of 1133 Walhalla Highway, Pickens, South Carolina.

The sedan also struck a westbound black Ford truck, but its driver was uninjured, police said.

The accident shut traffic on Memorial in both directions for most of the afternoon.
