Clarice Elizabeth Throckmorton was born January 8th, 1922 in Chillicothe, Ohio, Ross County. Her parents were Robert and Helen. She was one of nine children, third to oldest. She is the last to survive. She grew up through the depression and worked for the Navy during WWII in a munitions factory. She met her husband there. He was a type one diabetic and a supervisor for the government. They married on June 6th, 1943. They both worked in a paper mill after the war. In 1954 they hired on with STUCKEYS and ran a store in Florida on the Suwannee River. In 1958 they bought a skating rink in Auburndale, Florida. Dad went back to work with Stuckeys in 1960. Mom stayed unemployed until dad passed in 1965. Mom then worked as a buyer and merchandiser for a large hardware store. Surviving cancer, she moved to Winter Haven in 1983. She started a new career at age 76 as a crosswalk lady for school zones and retired at 87. She outlived four husbands. She spent the last 12 years living with her son, Seth in Lakeland. Death parted my parents in 1965. Death rejoined her with my dad, her best friend, on March 9, 2023. A new bright star in the heavens.
