
Charles A. King was born February 18, 1951, in Camilla, Georgia to the late Lonnie King, Sr., and Annie Mae McCraw King. He was educated in Lakeland’s Kathleen and Rochelle High Schools; He graduated in 1969. After graduation, he worked for Red Lobster where he became the Manager of the franchise restaurant after 18 years of service. He retired then continued his career at Publix Warehouse for 10 years then transferred to Sattlecreek where he served for 20 years before officially retiring in 2018.
As a Christian, he served the Lord beginning his Christian walk at the Church of God Gospel Tabernacle for many years. He later joined New Bethel A.M.E. Church where he was a devoted member serving as an Usher, in Transportation Ministry, Meals on Wheels, the Food Pantry, and as a Steward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lonnie King Jr. and Alphonso King; sisters, Annie Doris King & Sarah Wade.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Johnson King of 52 years; two sons, Lee “Bay” Kelly and Charles A. King II (Lanecia); two daughters, Tonia M. King, and Yolanda King; sister, Aldonia King; uncle, John Anderson (Nelle); aunt, Grace Williams; grands, Terrance, James, J’Quan, Bayshawn, Isaiah, Kani; Jakira, Breanna, La’Torei, N’Daijha, Deshior, Zi’Yon, Rylee, Malaysia, & Maleah; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doris Welch, Connie McGriff (Shine), Arnie Goines, & April Reese; God-children, Shan, Precious, and Johnny Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
