Kenneth Dale Blunt, 67, of Lakeland, FL, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. He was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Rockford, IL, the son of Harold and Mary (Guffey) Blunt. He married Kay Lynn Hauth Dec. 17, 1988, in Belvidere, IL.

In 2012, Ken retired from a 37-year career with Dean Foods in Belvidere, IL. Ken loved nothing more than to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. Was he competitive? Yes, just a bit. He was passionate about golf and loved his retired life in Florida. The weather, activities, and community suited him just perfectly. Ken cherished his ability to jump in his golf cart and ride around Cypress Lakes waving to all he encountered, stopping to chat with friends and neighbors and appreciating all of the wildlife. He loved to be the life of the party and entertain all. Ken had a heart of gold, always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed tremendously by everyone that knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Kay (Hauth) Blunt of Lakeland, FL; daughters, Lori (Dan) Finnegan of Centennial, CO, Kris (Tommy) Ashton of Charlston, IL, Robyn Blunt of Freeport, IL, and Ashley (Eric) Ignatowski of Decatur, IL; a sister, Victoria (Richard) Oakley of Rockford, IL; 10 grandchildren, Emerson Finnegan, Elle Wright, Gage and Gunner Trueblood, Zakera Haygood and Michael, Corderral and Makyla Jackson, Jasey and Kenley Ignatowski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Shirley Hauth; and a brother-in-law, Keith (Nancy) Hauth.

Ken will also be missed by his beloved, howling dog, Pete, and greeted in Heaven by Nala dog. Ken is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Mary Blunt, and a sister, Patricia Reed.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in place of formal services. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
