Katherine L Hollis was born May 17, 1938 in Detroit Michigan to the late Robert and Ida Malone. Katherine was the only child from this union and at an early age she was raised by her mother Ida and Seldom Smith.

Katherine had three sisters Hazel, Juanita, and Jordon from Birmingham AL, Barbara Leola Gunter from Birmingham, AL, Jocelyn Renee Smith from Detroit, MI and one brother Paul Edward Howard from Birmingham, AL who preceded her in death. Katherine graduated from Northeastern High School and attended Mary Grove Nursing School. She worked for the School Board of Education and later retired from General Motors Company in Detroit MI.

Katherine’s thirst for life and sense of humor in the face of all her medical odds yielded a relative toughness we will never forget. She had a great passion for knowledge which led to reading of many books and traveling extensively. She moved to Florida in January 2015 and began to study the bible, she really enjoyed learning bible truths.

She leaves to rejoice and cherish her memory: two sons Richard Malone and Grady Hollis preceded in death her daughter Valerie L Hollis, daughter in law LaDonna Malone, brother-in-law Theodore Jordon, 7 grandchildren Richard D Malone Jr., Roderick D Malone, Terri Malone, Nicole Hollis, Lakyra M Hollis, Kyree L Hollis, Kaleb L Hollis 5 great grand Michael Lewis, Lamyra Stokes Camyrah Lackey, Dajasia Pearson, Xavier Spence and a host of family and friends
