The Junior League of Greater Lakeland, which has organized the Lakeland Christmas Parade for 35 years, announced eight awards after Thursday night’s parade:

Judges Choice: Bruce Wagner Elementary, whose float had a classroom theme

Best Professional Float: Medulla Baptist Church, which featured a nativity and singers

Most Outstanding Band: George Jenkins High School

Best Themed Float: Family Martial Arts Center

Most Original Float: Filipino American Association of Polk County, which combined an Aztec theme with a tiki hut and snow

Best Youth/Education Group Float: Churchwell Elementary, which depicted a campsite.

Best Community Float: Central Florida Athletics, which featured characters from the movie “Minions.”

Best Business Float: Geico, which featured a full-size gingerbread house.
