The vice chair of Lakeland’s Police Advisory Board took to Facebook to complain he had been harassed when a Polk County sheriff’s deputy asked him to exit his car and questioned him for nearly an hour in what he claims is a case of mistaken identity. Now Demetrius Haynes is under fire from the head of the West Central Florida Police Benevolent Association and Sheriff Grady Judd for denigrating the deputy and posting her photo online, Fox 13 News reports. Judd is calling for his removal from the Lakeland board.

  1. I have issue with this request. I believe the request for Mr. Haynes removal is due to the overwhelming response he received on the behalf of the Mother that called PCS for help with her Mentally Ill son during an episode and the same officer shot this young man four times causing his demise. Why does Judd want him removed from a board that will benefit LPD & the Lakeland Community? In my opinion it seems as though Judd is using his position to bully Mr.Haynes and violate his constitutional right for freedom of speech. It’s my hope that the Advisory Board does not honor Judds request for Mr. Haynes removal but Judd and his officers are asked to apologize publicly for Mr. Haynes harassment and push for the appropriate officials to reopen the case of the murdered mentally ill Auburndale mans mother. Give her some peace after seeing her son gunned down right in front of her. That seems to be the right thing to do. Continue to help implement change in your community Mr. Haynes and keep speaking out for those who can’t. Lakeland Advisory Board say No to Judd!!!
