Well, that was fast! A day after Neil Combee announced he’s resigning from the Florida Legislature, Josie Tomkow has filed paperwork to run for the seat and Combee has endorsed her, FloridaPolitics reports.
Tomkow is a 22-year-old Dade City resident with deep family roots in north Lakeland agriculture. She grew up helping with her family’s ranching operation and business, Cattlemen’s Livestock Market.
She was a legislative intern for Southeast AgNet during this year’s Legislature.
A special election is expected after Combee announced Monday he will resign in order to take a job as Florida director for the USDA’s Farm Service Agency.
