Jackie McDougald Fortner was born March 2, 1928 in High Springs, Florida. She was the daughter of Quitman (Daddy Mac) and Madeline Lewis McDougald. Jackie graduated from the New York Institute of Dietetics. She was a dietitian at the University of Florida infirmary and met her husband, Ray, who was in his second year of law school.

They were married in 1956 and resided in Lakeland. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist and later Church in the Meadows, soon to become Beacon Hill Fellowship. She was active in the Heritage Antique Club, Rambling Rose Garden Club, and especially loved to play bridge- anytime!

She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Fortner and her son Dean Fortner. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Jay) Ross of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Brooke (Dan) Rowland of Fernandina Beach, Florida; grandchildren Brooke (Sean) Bailey, Chandler Ross, Ashton Ross, Brenna Rowland, Madeline Rowland, Katie Rowland and Allison Rowland; great grandchildren Brayden and Bryce Bailey; and her sister Patricia McDougald of New York, New York.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 1 to 2 P.M. in the Tribute Center at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Ave, Lakeland, Florida followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 P.M.
