
A day after photographer Octavia Heart provided TV stations with video of a large alligator feeding on a smaller one at Circle B Bar Reserve, several other photographers came upon a similar scene there today. (Note: County officials announced this afternoon that Circle B’s Marsh Rabbit Run, where these incidents took place, is temporarily closed; it’s mating season, they say, and the gators could use some privacy.)

A spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife told ABC Action News that cannibalism is somewhat common among alligators, especially between males during male season, which lasts through June.
