First Polk Students With COVID-19 Had Tests Pending

Polk School Board members learned Tuesday that the first two public school students here who tested positive for COVID-19 had no symptoms but came to school despite having tests pending, The Ledger reported. That prompted Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd to comment that parents should be honest and admit if somebody in their home has been infected with the coronavirus; in those cases, the child would be instructed to stay home. Two School Board members said that students with pending tests should not come to school.
