Rogue Stage, Lakeland’s professional theatre company, in association with co-sponsor LKLD Live is presenting “Tales from the Orlando Fringe”. Two nights of shows directly from the Orlando International Fringe Festival which takes place in Orlando, FL , May 14-27, 2019.
According to Rogue Stage producing director, Thom Mesrobian, “We want everyone in Lakeland to be aware of the high caliber shows that are taking place right in our back yard and what better way to do that than by bringing some of those shows here to our awesome city!”
The four shows will be presented on two different nights. May 17th features Martin Dockery, a winner of over 20 Best of Festival awards around the world. Named “The best storyteller in the U.S.” by the Orlando Sentinel, Dockery will perform his hilarious and extraordinarily fun show, ”You Belong Here” that chronicles his trip to the inaccurately named “Forbidden City”. Also on the 17th, Timothy Mooney performs “Breakneck Julius Caesar” an interactive one-man event! Mooney has recklessly sliced Shakespeare’s classic tale down to one hour AND he plays all the roles himself. Performed across North America, it has been called “Electrifying”, “Magnificent” and “Fun” and has won multiple critic’s choice awards.
Then on May 23rd, patrons can enter the wildly creative mind of storyteller Paul Strickland, a 10 time Best of Fest award winner who has been called “A master storyteller” by the Cincinnati Enquirer and “The Mark Twain of the Trailer Park”. Laugh along with his hysterical new show”90 Lies an Hour”. Then, fall in love with Indonesia and get kicked out of it with international multi-award winning solo performer
Erika Kate MacDonald in her out-of-this-world adventure story, ”Evacuated!”
FringeReview.ca says of this show: ”Creatively presented and beautifully written, this is Fringe fare at it’s best, 5 Stars!”
Both nights start at 7:30pm at LKLD Live, Studio B, 202 N Massachusetts Ave. Tickets are available at LKLDlive, com and are $15 per night or $25 if you buy both nights together. Tickets will be $20 per night at the door. The shows will be presented with a brief intermission during which guests can enjoy the LKLD Live bar and learn about the Orlando International Fringe Festival.
“We have brought down some of the ‘heaviest hitters’ from the festival” says Mesrobian. “These are world renowned artists and we hope this event encourages people to make the drive to Orlando and check out just some of the 120 shows at the Fringe”.
