Alan Cohn’s campaign for U.S. House is getting a boost via the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Red to Blue program aimed at flipping vulnerable seats held by Republicans, Florida Politics reports. The former broadcast journalist who lives in New Tampa faces Lakeland City Commissioner Scott Franklin, a Republican who defeated incumbent Ross Spano in the party primary. The district that includes Lakeland has been represented by Republicans ever since former Rep. Andy Ireland switched parties in 1984.
