Another Democrat has entered the race to unseat first-term Republican Congressman Ross Spano of Dover, whose district includes most of Lakeland, Florida Politics reports. Jesse Philippe, 32, of Riverview, is a former Marine with a law degree who has worked at the Florida Department of Children and Families and Department of Revenue. Democratic opponents include former news anchor Alan Cohn of New Tampa and state Rep. Adam Hattersley of Riverview. On the Republican side, Lakeland City Commissioner Scott Franklin hopes to succeed incumbent Spano.
