A housing developer wants to bring a Crystal Lagoon — a large, clear, manmade water structure — to a subdivision planned for 487 acres southwest of Lakeland Linder Airport. Metro Development Group in Tampa has placed one of the lagoons in Wesley Chapel and plans four more in Florida, Tampa Bay Business Journal reports. Lakeland city commissioners are being asked to allow smaller lot sizes in the planned Hawthorne Mills community south of West Pipkin Road to accommodate the lagoon.

  1. This is totally asinine in a state where water is a critical concern. We do not need another development and we damn sure do not need a crystal lagoon.

  2. I think it is a very neat idea. I love the concept of seeing clear blue water in Lakeland. Do not get me wrong I love the lakes but I still love the blue clear water. I am all for it!

  3. Yes the need for a beach and clear water is needed in Polk County! Open to the public. Love the idea
