A dancer creates interpretive movement as a writer recites her work; visual artists show emotion in two dimensions as an orchestra plays selections from “Carmen;” and a finale unites a chorus, 18 dancers, 55 musical theater students and a pianist in a popular Broadway melody.

Those collaborations between departments are part of a “Roll Out the Red Carpet” fund-raiser for Harrison Arts Center scheduled for April 1 at 7 p.m. at the school.

The annual fund-raiser is full of student performances. In addition to the ones mentioned above, the program includes a jazz orchestra/dance collaboration, two choruses, a classical guitar ensemble, motion picture arts screening, solo piano and two numbers from “Anything Goes” that pair musical theater students with a pit orchestra.

A live auction will be conducted that night and a silent auction will be conducted using online and mobile tools from BidPay.

Proceeds  are used to pay for equipment, guest artists, field trips, and adjunct instruction.

The event, sponsored by the Harrison Parents Association, takes place at the school, 750 Hollingsworth Road. Tickets ($50) are available online.
