A federal appeals court has rejected a lawsuit filed against the Polk Sheriff’s Office by the mother of Katelyn Roman, who was 12 years old in 2013 when she was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking in a case that involved a classmate committing suicide. But the court noted the Sheriff’s Office’s “repeatedly and publicly” naming her “had a devastating effect” on the girl, whose criminal charge was eventually dismissed.
