FCC Environmental, which contracts with Polk County to collect garbage in unincorporated areas near Lakeland, has hired a subcontractor and is generating fewer customer complaints since it was put on notice, county officials said Wednesday. Starting Feb. 1, residents whose collections are missed by the company will be able to dispose of their garbage at the county landfill without paying a fee, The Ledger reports.

  1. There’s no way asking me to put a full garbage can in my car and drive to the land fill because the service I pay for in tax is being incompetently handled is acceptable. We may need another contractor or replaced commissioners.
