Commissioners Ponder Whether to Restore Social Service Funds

When city of Lakeland managers looked for ways to trim spending at the RP Funding Center, they found more than a half million dollars that could be cut this year, The Ledger reports. That set up a debate that city commissioners will try to decide this afternoon: Should all of the savings be held in reserve in case things get really bad, or should part of it go to social service agencies whose city funding would otherwise be cut next year?
