At the suggestion of Commissioner Scott Franklin, the Lakeland City Commission is exploring the idea of exempting bank lobbies from the city’s mask rules, News Channel 8 reports. Some banks have kept their lobbies closed and “The idea is that banks need to know whoever’s coming in there, isn’t coming in to rob them,” Franklin said. City officials are polling local banks on their preferences and commissioners will discuss the issue on Sept. 21. The commission on Tuesday extended until Oct. 5 its order requiring masks inside businesses where people are not social distancing.
