When you go see a movie at the Cinemark Lakeland Square after today, remember to leave your large bag at home. A new policy at Cinemark theaters nationwide starting Thursday bans bags larger than 12″ by 12″ by 6″.

Cinemark says security is the reason for the policy, but social media commenters suspect the company is also trying to prevent patrons from sneaking in snacks.

Diaper bags and medical equipment bags are still allowed.

The chain notes on its website that there’s no place at its theaters to check bags and that management has the right to inspect customers’ bags and packages.

Cinemark, the nation’s third-largest movie chain, has 533 theaters with 5,957 screens in the U.S. and Latin America.
