Charlotte R. Smithson went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021. She was born in Johnson City, TN and moved to Lakeland in 1956 from Detroit, MI. Charlotte worked as a rural letter carrier for Lakeland Postal Branch until retirement and moving to TN in 1993. She moved back to Lakeland in 2018 to be close to her family.
Charlotte was a member of First Baptist Church in Lakeland for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, William N. Smithson; daughter, Suzanne Lynn and brother, Tim Markland. Survivors include her children, Saralinda Smith, Stephanie (Tim) McCraney, Steven (Kimberly) Smithson, Sharon (Tim) Mallard, Bill Smithson, Jim (Michelle) Smithson; sisters, Mary Satterfield, Wanda Fenn; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 1/26/21 from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Lakes Church, 1010 E. Memorial Blvd. Funeral services to begin at 2:00 P.M. and interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
