Carvana, an online used-car dealership with an inventory of more than 15,000 vehicles, has added Lakeland to the roughly 130 markets where it offers as-soon-as-next-day delivery.

Carvana customers use the company website or mobile apps to search for and buy vehicles, arrange financing and even get an offer on a trade-in.

In a news release, the company says each vehicle is photographed from all angles and goes through a 150-point inspection before being offered for sale. Customers have seven days to try out the vehicle and decide whether to keep it or return it for a refund.

Carvana offers few restrictions on credit other than the borrower is at least 18 and has an income of more than $10,000 a year. Outside financing is also accepted.

Those who want to pick up their vehicle rather than have it delivered can retrieve it from one of the company’s gimmicky “vending machines.” The nearest ones are in Tampa and Orlando.

The entry of Carvana delivery to Lakeland comes at a time when another national company, CarMax, is planning  a used-vehicle dealership on U.S. 98 just south of I-4, bringing new challenges to home-grown dealers.
