The group Bicycling in Lakeland wants local policymakers to see the city from a bicyclist’s point of view. So they’re inviting all 15 candidates for mayor and city commissioner on a gentle, three-mile ride around town.

The candidates or their representatives and other interested citizens will assemble at the Wells Fargo parking lot at Main Street and Tennessee Avenue at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12.

Afterwards, participants are invited to participate in the Munn Park food truck rally, according to a Bicycling in Lakeland Facebook post where people can sign up to join the ride.

“We can provide bicycles for any campaign that needs a bike. The route is flat, low mileage and begins and ends in downtown,” a Bicycling in Lakeland representative said.
