Cornelius Wiggins

A body found in Lake Gibson Sunday evening was identified as that of 32-year-old Cornelius Wiggins of Plant City, who disappeared the day before after jumping from a 21-foot boat to retrieve sunglasses that fell overboard.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says the Saturday boating incident remains under investigation.

Friends told Bay News 9 that the former championship wrestler was a strong swimmer who had recently taken a safe-boating class.

The boat was piloted by Julia Bryant, 69, who turned around after Wiggins jumped in, threw a flotation device in the water and jumped in to try to find him, according to The Ledger.
