Arthur Park Carlton passed away on April 10, 2021 at the age of 85.
Arthur was born to Park and Nellie Carlton on October 20, 1935 in Broxton, Georgia. Mr. Carlton graduated from Cairo High School in the class of 1955, and proudly served in the United States Navy as Radioman 3rd class, from 1955-1959. Following his Military service, Arthur graduated from Southern Business University in 1960. Together with his wife Thelma, they moved from Cairo, Georgia to Lakeland, Florida in 1966. He was employed with Watkins Motor Lines and then became an Insurance agent. He was the former President of Polk Association of Independent Insurance Agents. He was a member of Ardella Baptist Church since 1967.
Mr. Carlton loved singing Southern Gospel Music and sang with The Sonshine Harmony Boys, Good News Quartet, Palm State Quartet and The Shepherd’s Four. He was a member of the Florida High School Activities Association for 24 years serving as a football official. He loved being with his family and friends, and playing golf, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Thelma ‘Donalson’ Carlton of 57 years; two daughters, April and Anita; sister, Naomi Carlton White, and brother, Cecil Carlton.
Visitation will be held at Ardella Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 14, at 10 a.m. with services to follow. He will be buried in Cairo, Georgia. Condolences may be sent to the family at Heath Funeral Chapel.
