A series of photos from early 1939 depict Lakelanders spending time in Munn Park. Photographer Marion Post Wolcott toured Polk County as part of the Farm Security Administration—Office of War Information (FSA-OWI) effort to document life in America.
She spent considerable time with the migrant field workers in the orange groves around Lakeland and Winter Haven.
These are just a few of her Polk County photographs now available at Photogrammar — a website dedicated to featuring the more than 170,000 photos created for the FSA-OWI.
What an excellent find! I visited the website, and I like the photos of the migrant worker encampments in Winter Haven.
